SDGs Online Roundtable Discussion (Vol. 12)] (2022.1.27)

On Thursday, January 27th, we had a talk by Mr. Aiyuki Kinugasa of Yume-Kobo in Himeji Yume-saki, who is engaged in agriculture with a desire to contribute to health and a rich food culture by providing “safety, freshness, and excitement” to customers as an agricultural professional.
Just like humans, vegetables and rice do not need to rely on pesticides if they are made healthy. In order to do so, it is important to improve the growth environment of microorganisms in the soil, and he was one of the first to start growing rice without pesticides, practicing a new form of agriculture. During this time, he also focused on training the young people who will be the future leaders of agriculture, and more than 10 of them have become independent.
Currently, in order to reduce the burden on farmers and to effectively produce safe and delicious vegetables, rice, and fruits, we are actively trying ICT-based agriculture in cooperation with the government and many companies. For example, strawberries grown with 100% hydrogen water have increased in sugar content by 1.5 times and received a high rating of 4.94 on Jalan.
Mr. Kinugasa, who is working to make it possible for newcomers to grow rice without owning farm equipment, said that a food crisis will surely come in the future.
