On Thursday, February 25, we held an online SDGs roundtable discussion on education in the “post-Corona” era.
The lecturer was Mr. Hiroji Matsuoka of Kobe University (https://esdplat.wixsite.com/will), who has been developing ESD (Education for Sustainable Development) activities. He spoke on the theme of “How do we learn and grow together with youth? We were deeply touched by his words, “It is important for us to accumulate encounters and experiences with a variety of people, even if each encounter is small, so that we can become aware of human diversity and the multifaceted nature of the world, and continue to reshape ourselves through cooperation and collaboration without forgetting respect.
Peace & Nature had limited time to introduce the SDGs field trip and the 10,000 tree planting activity. We will focus on these two initiatives from FY2021: a one-day hands-on SDGs workshop for junior and senior high school students, and the planting of 10,000 trees as a starting point for climate change countermeasures.
Thank you very much to Dr. Matsuoka, Ms. Kei who interpreted for us, Mr. Brent who played Kobe’s version of Country Roads at the opening, and everyone who participated.
