On April 28 (Wed.), 22 people participated in Peace & Nature’s 4th SDGs Online Roundtable Discussion. This time, Mr. Yasufuku, President of Kobe Shushinkan, the brewer of Fukuju, which has been brewing sake in Nada for generations since 1751, introduced the SDGs initiatives.
Mr. Yasufuku’s efforts to save energy, water, and bottles through systematic investment in facilities, while improving productivity and being environmentally conscious, as well as his contributions to the local community, such as donating to the Stork Fund in relation to biodiversity and holding rakugo (traditional Japanese comic storytelling) and concerts, were highly evaluated, and he received the Minister of Finance’s Award at the Eco-Professional Awards 2019. Kobe Shushinkan’s sustainability mindset is to increase its corporate value while solving social issues, such as smart agriculture using drones and commercializing sake lees as an effective use of waste. Mr. Yasufuku also talked about how famous wineries overseas have improved their brand power by actively working on environmental issues as well as the quality of their products. Thank you very much for this valuable talk, Mr. Yasufuku.
We think that Kobe Shushinkan has been cultivating a sustainability mindset since before the term SDGs was coined. We strongly feel that corporate management that incorporates SDGs/ESGs will become more and more important in the future, and we would like to introduce companies that are proactively working on this issue in the SDGs Online Roundtable.
Today, people who are working on the SDGs in their respective fields, people involved in management, people involved in education, and people of various nationalities participated in the discussion, and we were able to have a meaningful exchange of opinions and impressions from everyone. Thank you very much for your participation.
